A Berean Christian is aware of what real Bible preaching is and should be.

One must be able to draw as straight of a line as possible from the intent of the passage to the application one is making.

Without authorial intent, God's people have different opinions of what passages mean based on their desired outcome.

Paul tells us to put on the whole armor of God, a spiritual armor, because we often deal with spiritual attackers who, believe it or not, get permission to do what they do to you from God Himself in heaven.

Men tend to be goal-setters, and we also have some innate desire to leave our mark, to be remembered. Something in us cares more about what people will think of us after we’re gone than what people think of us while we’re here. Well, now that was uplifting.

Sure, someone can learn some wisdom later in life. But after looking verse by verse through the entire book of wisdom, namely Proverbs, I can’t help but notice the emphasis being on starting young, pursuing hard after wisdom during that time, and then enjoying the benefits of it for life.

I know for me, I stink at encouraging. Sure, I can do it, and I do do it. It just doesn’t come as naturally to me as warning does. Does that mean I’m a negative person? Probably.

The next question to answer after that is, if the Comma could have been original, and then tampered with within the first two-hundred years after writing, where is the evidence that it was even there to begin with?

The author uses this term and I’m not sure who get’s to decide what “third-level” matters are. Does he? Did God?

It seems that many men I know approach the guarding of the inputs in slightly varied ways and that is where much debate often ensues, for better or for worse.

I think it’s definitely on purpose that we see these verses side-by-side. The inherent manly quality of a strong will can be useful in the right way, but it must be tempered with Godly charity. The balance of these virtues seems to be the only way to get Biblical manliness right.

John’s tests give us a means by which we can follow the trail of evidence to a reasonable conclusion with the Obedience test and the Love test, and a perfect conclusion with the truth test. Still, I must be careful to not allow personal biases or personality dislikes to skew the test results. I must be vigilant, careful, and prayerful in how and why I use this Biblical information.

Christians ought to be the most joyful people anywhere. Why? Because of what the resurrection of our Lord has provided us- a joy and hope for the future that no one can take away.

The fact is, they’ve “made their bed.” Now they’re lying in it and claiming someone else shorted the sheets.
